My name is Vikkie and I have been a Trainee Solicitor at a high street firm in London since the beginning of February 2016.
I knew I wanted to train to become a Solicitor before I started studying A-Levels at Sixth Form. It sounds a bit silly but my mum once told me I should be a lawyer because, and I quote, “you like to argue too much”. It was after this that I decided to do some research into the different legal career paths and I focused on that of a Solicitor.
I began by studying Law at A-Level and applied to University to complete my Law degree, which I did in 2013 and achieved a 2:1. I then immediately applied to study the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at BPP University in Holborn, London and completed this in the summer of 2014, having achieved a commendation. Once I had finished the LPC I quickly found a job working as a Paralegal for a very small law firm and worked there for around a year and a half. I was fortunate enough to find an immediatley available Training Contract which, as I said above, I started in February 2016.
I know from my own experience that searching for a Training Contract can be a daunting process. There are so many different Companies and areas of law to choose from and it can be quite stressful figuring out what you want to do. There is also a lot of competition for each Training Contract place and most people go searching for tips on how to secure one.
My blog aims to help you in that process, providing advice and tips based on my own experience and advice I’ve had from others.
I hope I can help you guys.
